From Isaiah Foxe
Professor Sekra has been disgraced from his profession.
An expert in the mechanical arts and specializing in Steam Engine creation, Sekra has built a name for himself throughout Torrati. As technology surpasses standard Wind power, Sekra has become a figurehead in steam engineering. His newest inventions have circulated Torrati and become a standard form of transportation. Sekra, despite his young age, had been climbing the ranks of the University of Voyance and was on a clear path to becoming the next High Chairman.
However, on one late evening in the early days of Summer, Sekra encountered a creature that would change his life forever. According to his reports, he was passing through the stationary district surrounding the University when he noticed something in the darkness of an inconspicuous alley. “An enormous hound,” he called it. “With blazing eyes and glowing teeth as sharp as a dagger.” Sekra described the creature as standing hunched downward with raised hackles. Its dark fur would have kept it camouflaged from Sekra if not for the fact that the creature ran full force at him the moment it was spotted. Sekra flinched out of fear, and in the blink of his eye, the creature disappeared, leaving only a twinge of flame from where it last stood. This all comes from his own recollection.
Over the next several days, the professor became erratic. He told everyone who would listen about the encounter, including his peers. Students began to whisper about “Professor Sekra’s mad tirade” and his insistence that he be believed. How could anyone, though? A mystical being appearing in Voyance, of all places? Nonsense. Maybe the northern regions would believe a fanciful tale, but those sorts of stories aren’t enjoyed by the general public, and certainly not by members of the Board. Of whom, I’m aware, were not pleased by Sekra’s abnormal actions.
Last the Professor was seen, it was on a Water Vessel bound for Wildemoor, a small village by the northern forests. If Sekra is seeking mythology, he couldn’t have picked a better place to go. Or perhaps he actually realized how delirious he sounds and decided to take a leave of absence from his educating duties. The fresh air up north might suit him more than he knows.
Isaiah Foxe is an acclaimed journalist who has been a primary reporter with The Torrati Tribune for over 20 years. His investigative work has spanned across the continent and inspired many in their pursuit of truth and knowledge. An advocate for innovation, Foxe has dedicated his career to supporting the modernization of technology. Growing up in Romban, Foxe only knew the challenges and hardships that exist in a town reliant on unreliable Wind Vanes. He made it his mission to study engineering and develop a better livelihood for him and his family. Through his education in the Upper Engineering program, he learned that his talents lied in inspiring others to join his cause.
Through his writing, Foxe has garnered support from constituents who also crave the development of a better future. Within his bold craftsmanship of words, Foxe has created a campaign in support of Steam Engineering, much of which has shaped how Torrati views such engines today. Foxe is a proud sponsor of the Board of Innovation and hopes that through higher education opportunities, even more developments that benefit those living in Torrati will come to fruition.
